Momentum is Building as the 5th Anniversary Approaches

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” — Sweet Honey in the Rock

I don’t remember anything like this as far back as I can remember. It sounds appropriately new and unique, so congratulations.” — a comment on the DC actions planned for March 19th, made during The Declaration of Peace Feb. 18th National Conference Call

We’ve been hearing it from every corner of the country: on the phone, over e-mails, on conference calls, on web blogs, in the streets, in organizing meetings. So many people are working to make the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq the most powerful and broad-based resistance to the war since it began.

As a vital part of our work, the movement to end the war in Iraq continues to tell its own story, apart from the story put out by the Bush administration, a largely complicit Congress, and the same mainstream media that helped lead us into the war five years ago, five years too many.

Let us help you tell this story.

* Post your events to the “5 Years Too Many” event calendar and to The Declaration of Peace event calendar.

* Find events in your area on the “5 Years Too Many” event calendar and The Declaration of Peace event calendar.

* Some upcoming events:

Interfaith Peace Witness for Iraq (March 7)

Stop-Loss Congress (March 10-12)

Sick of it Day (March 19)

Make 5 Phone Calls for “5 Years Too Many”

As of this email, only 35 out of 50 states have events listed on the “5 Years Too Many” event calendar. Let’s make it 50 out of 50. The Declaration of Peace has a database of organizers in every state who have agreed to let volunteers with The Declaration of Peace campaign contact them personally. These personal connections are at the heart of any healthy movement, and you can help make the movement to end the war in Iraq even stronger.

Can you make 5 phone calls to people in one of these 15 states?

Alaska - Alabama - Arkansas - Hawai’i - Idaho - Kansas - Kentucky - Maryland - Mississippi - North Dakota - Nevada - Utah - Virginia - West Virginia - Wyoming

E-mail info@declarationofpeace.org if you’d like to help get all 50 states involved on March 19th.

~ If you’re in one of those 15 states and are already planning an event, post your event to the “5 Years Too Many” event calendar and to The Declaration of Peace event calendar.

~ If you’re in one of those 15 states and want to organize something or get connected with others in your area to find out what’s going on locally, email info@declarationofpeace.org and we’ll help you get started.
