A group of local peace activists are marching throughout Philadelphia, demanding that Congress end the war in Iraq.

Led by a wooden coffin and flowers for the war dead, members of the peace organization “Brandywine Peace Community” stopped in front of the federal courthouse near 6th and Market Streets on Monday, demanding that Congress end the war and occupation of Iraq.

Robert Smith is the march coordinator. He says this is the first step in the group’s “Declaration of Peace.”

“There’s only two agencies in this country who can now end the war; one is the military and the other is Congress. It is our Congress. We need to stop the funding of the war, we need to develop a comprehensive plan to end the war. Bush won’t listen; Congress must act.”
