What Your Group Can Do

  • Inform Local Organizers: Notify your local, regional and national organizers about the Declaration of Peace and invite constituents to incorporate the DoP timeline into upcoming organizing plans
  • Send Mail: Include articles and notices about the Declaration in your postal mailings such as newsletters, regular mailed updates, calendars, etc.
  • Notify the Media: Send regular press releases to local media about your support of the Declaration of Peace and each action or training you organize. Make your leaders available for interviews with local reporters. Write op-eds and Letters to the Editor. (link to media resources)
  • Use the Web: Add a DoP link button to your website’s home page. Post articles and text about the DoP on your site. The DoP site will include links to all of the endorsing organizations as well.
  • Send an Email-Blast: Tell your constituents about the Declaration and invite them to sign the Declaration of Peace at www.declarationofpeace.org.
  • Organize Events: Integrate the Declaration of Peace timeline into your organizing plans:
    • July: Plan public Declaration signing events
    • August: Host and attend nonviolence trainings and actions
    • September: Work toward the September deadline to galvanize support for a comprehensive and rapid plan the end the US War in Iraq.

Contact Your Representative: Organize lobbying days to inform congressional representatives about the Declaration and urge their support, hold public Declaration signings with local and regional leaders, plan peaceful rallies, demonstrations and other creative actions and nonviolence trainings to prepare for the September 21, 2006.

  • Nonviolence Trainers to contribute time and training skills around the country
